  • Good food, guests and a great cause makes dinner a success
EXPENSIVE gifts, good company and great food made our Maggie's fundraising Dinner a success last Friday.
So far, an amazing total of at least £12,000 was raised – with more money still pouring in to our appeal and centre.
Those who supported the dinner, which was held in the Atrium of Adam Smith College, helped raise money before the night started by paying for a place at the glittering event and enjoyed champagne and delicious canapes on arrival.

The dinner also coincided with the first anniversary of our Maggie's Centre opening it's doors.
Guests included councillors, MSPs, local business people and of course representatives from the Fife Free Press, who got the chance to hear from Dr Bob Grant, who talked about why he supports our Appeal.
The charitable doctor, who has battled cancer, lost a leg and walks with crutches, raised money by organised and completing a walk from Maggie's Dundee to Maggie's Edinburgh, calling in on our Centre on the way.
Centre user Molly Balfour also spoke to the audience about why Maggie's has become such an important part of her battle against cancer. Art therapist Trish Sully also spoke about her work.
Guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Adam Smith College and served by students before getting the chance to bid on items in the silent and grand auction which included a four ball at Gleneagles, spa day at St Andrew's Bay, £1000 of air time on Kingdom FM, a signed Harry Potter book and a set of Parliamentary whiskey.

And Elizabeth Adams, who also managed to double as auctioneer for the night, told The Press this week she was really proud the event was a roaring success.
"We raised at least £12,000 and during the dinner I had people giving me donations and coming up at the end of the night to give me money, so it's going to take a good wee while to count all the cash!
''One of the other really positive things to come out of the dinner is the fact folk went away completely Maggie-fied and learned about what the Centre does and how it can help people.
''Once again the college did us proud and the catering department was absolutely fantastic, very professional."
Fife Free Press editor Allan Crow praised Elizabeth's hard work. "We're happy to continue to support Maggie's and will be donating some of the proceeds of our advertising feature in last week's Press to the total.''
