FIFE Flyers this week announced the return of the club's loyal pair of brothers.

Experienced duo Steven and Derek King have re-signed for the Kirkcaldy club for the new season, due to face-off with an Autumn Cup match against Solway Sharks on September 6.

Also confirmed as returning are tough defenceman Thomas Muir and forwa
rd Gavin Fleming, which player-coach Todd Dutiaume confirmed as his last signings ahead of the new season.

That, Dutiaume confirmed, means Flyers will start the campaign without a second import.

"It's been left a little late by the league in terms of setting up the rules, so it looks like we won't have an import in time for the new season," he said. "Hopefully, that can be rectified soon. We'll know which direction we're heading in during the upcoming weeks."

On this week's four signings, Dutiaume added: "Steven is a great leader and the team just wouldn't be the same without him. He's hard on the guys, but even harder on himself.

"Derek will be back on a limited basis because of his work commitments, but his experience can go a long way towards improving our younger defencemen.

"Gavin has had a thankless task over the last few years as our third line centre, and he never lets us down. We'll be looking to him to work on his upper body strength this season to get round import defenceman.

"Last year was a breakthrough one for Thomas. In previous years there were a lot of guys wanting to take pot shots at him and challenge him to fights. He stuck his chin out with the best of them and he's earned respect around the league.

"He's the first player I go to on the penalty kill."

In the same week as the re-laying of ice commenced at Fife Ice Arena, the first fixtures of the new season were released.

Flyers will start the Autumn Cup at home on Saturday, September 6 against Dumfries, now coached by former Fife assistant Martin Grubb.
The next day, Flyers will make their first trip to Tayside to meet Dundee Stars.

There is a meeting at Prestwick on Tuesday where the Irish and Scottish associations will meet to finalise the fixture list for the new Celtic League.

Autumn Cup fixtures:
September: 6 – Solway (h), 7 – Stars (a), 13 – Dundee Tigers (h), 14 – Dundee Tigers (h), 20 – Dundee Stars (h), 27 – Solway Sharks (a). The final of the Autumn Cup will be played on weekend of October 4 and 5.
